Statement of Solidarity from Four Season Foraging Founder Maria Wesserle

Today marks the five month date since the tragic murder of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police. Starting at that time, I pledged to make monthly donations to local groups that fight for the dignity of Black lives, organize to defund the MPD, and/or work to end the racist and classist system of incarceration in the United States.

This month, I am making a monetary donation to the Twin Cities Coalition for Justice for Jamar Clark. From their Facebook page:

“The Twin Cities Coalition 4 Justice 4 Jamar Clark was formed around one demand: The prosecution of Mark Ringgenberg and Dustin Schwarze, the cops that killed Jamar Clark in Minneapolis on November 15, 2015.

“The Coalition was made up primarily of Minneapolis Northsiders and working people from all over the Twin Cities. The Coalition named itself the Twin Cities Coalition 4 Justice, knowing we would also in the future respond to other grave injustices as they occurred. We continue to stand with the families of Jamar Clark, and all those killed by police, and we work for accountability through community control of the police.”

Due to financial constraints, this will be the last recurring monthly donation for the time being. I remain committed to supporting the movement to defend Black lives and will contribute monetarily and in other ways as I am able. I encourage you to do the same, especially if you are a person who experiences privilege in a lot of ways. Thank you.

In Solidarity,

Maria
