The Fresh Flavors of Juniper: Meals, Medicine, and Drink

  • Norway House 913 East Franklin Avenue Minneapolis, MN, 55404 United States (map)

About This Event

A Deep Dive into Juniper

Juniper berries give a fresh, distinctive flavor whenever they’re used, so distinctive that they are sometimes a challenge for a cook to incorporate into a Nordic meal. Expert forager and a person with an appreciation for juniper’s unique qualities, Maria Wesserle, will teach you how to identify, prepare, and serve juniper in a variety of ways.

In this class, you will do the following:

- make hot juniper tea

- compose your own flavored gin (you will take home a 350 ml container of infused gin)

- make juniper butter

- make juniper ash “salt”

- learn how to identify juniper and to use it medicinally

This is a hands-on class packed with information, so please bring a notebook and pencil, and be prepared to work in small groups.
